About Ben
Benjamin Grut is a singer/songwriter from Guernsey who studies singing and songwriting at BIMM in Bristol. His act is singing/playing popular songs throughout the decades as well as originals to his audience. Benjamin has been playing in bands since he was 10 and has been playing the drums for 11 years. He has been playing guitar for 3 years and has had 2 years of vocal training at SOPM and at BIMM in Bristol. He has been writing songs since he was 14 and started on the ukulele. He played Vale Earth Fair last year as one of Kiya Ashton’s support acts and played last year in the Guernsey Street Festival. He loves to take requests so feel free to ask for songs for him to learn when you see him at the festival!

About Isla
Isla is a young emerging singer currently attending The Guernsey Institute and studying performing arts. Her set includes a mix of her favourite songs and artists which showcases her love of performing, which she hopes will bring the audience as much joy as she is feeling.

About Freddie
Freddie is a 16 year old singer/songwriter. He moved to Guernsey last summer from South East Asia, and learnt to play the guitar as a result of the Covid Pandemic lockdowns, and using his time in online school to instead learn the Ukulele, Guitar and Drums!
At the heart of our celebration lies the true embodiment of the festival's essence. Chosen by the discerning eyes of our dedicated committee, this award recognizes performers who go above and beyond, embodying the very spirit of camaraderie and community that defines our festival. Acts of kindness, selflessness, and a genuine passion for lifting others up form the cornerstones of this extraordinary honor.
About Lucy
Lucy was recognized this year for her dedication to the festival by volunteering with set ups, pack downs, helping with videos and photos for social media and for the energy and feedback to the committee on how the festival had helped her grow and gather the confidence to perform more.
About Eve
Eve was recognized this year for her dedication to the festival by volunteering with set ups, pack downs, helping with videos and photos for social media and assisting other artists by lending gear and offering advice wherever needed.
Each year secret judges are approached by the committee to judge the awards for the Guernsey Street Festival. Judges are approached based on their background in the arts dedication to supporting artists. This years judges were the inimitable Shaun Winterflood and Barbera Minta, both stalwarts of the Guernsey arts scene and friends of the festival.
About Shaun
Shaun is dedicated to helping young folk develop using theatre and music. Also an active member of Guernsey SWATS he had previously been nominated for the Pride of Guernsey award being descibed as 'a bubbly character, loved by the children and he goes the extra mile to support attendees and their families. His positivity is infectious.' He has been a prominent supporter of the Guernsey Eistedfodd and GADOC for many years being involved in many productions himself. He made an excellent judge for this years festival with a well rounded viewpoint.
About Barbera
A past president of GADOC and committee member of Eistedfodd Guernsey, Barbera is a well loved member, supporter and driving force behind many of the Island's best loved arts programmes. She has also been or currently acts as a committee member of the Friends of the School's Music Service, a duty manager at St James, a committee member of the support group of Le Cotils and is the retired Head Teachers Association. With such a wealth of knowledge and experience at her fingertips we were thrilled to have her on board for this years Guernsey Street Festival.
